FLAME MÄANDER VERSION 2.00 Overview of changes and additions ------------------------------------- 1. WAVE ------- In version 1 there were 39 wavetables on places 00-38 and two digitally generated waveforms on 39 and 40 (SAW and SQUARE). The WAVE menu has now been changed to 3 sound banks A, B and C. You can switch through the banks by pressing the WAVE button again. The sound within the bank can be changed with the EDIT control. The number within the bank is retained if you step through the three banks. Bank A has the old 39 wavetables (A00-A38) and bank B now has additional storage space for another 39 wavetables (B00-B38). The digitally generated waveforms are located on bank C. The existing SAW and SQUARE are on C01 and C02. A new FM algorithm has now been added to C02. The parameters are set with the two controllers DETUNE and COLOR. It can be used to create typical metallic, bell-like or disharmonious sounds. Note: The digital sounds on Bank C can only be played in four voices. As a result, the new polyphonic DETUNE function (doubling of the voices) has no effect on these sounds. See polyphonic DETUNE function! As of version 2, it is also possible to load individual wavetables to user-selected storage locations (regardless of the number specified in the wavetable file). 2. DETUNE --------- In version 1 the DETUNE controller was only active in UNISONO mode (detuning the 4 same voices). Now an additional 4 voices are added to the wavetables, even when playing polyphonically, when the DETUNE control is turned up. This gives you a very flat chorus-like effect, now also for chords. From the middle position of the control, DETUNE can be controlled up to the octave distance of the individual voices (for very strange sounds). This does not apply to the four digital sound algorithms on bank C00-03 (since they can only have a maximum of four voices). 3. LFO SYNC DISPLAY ------------------- Further additions concern the LFOs. If the LFO is set to MIDI-SYNC, turning the RATE control shows the divider value on the display (for about 2 seconds). This makes it easier to set the duoles, triplets and dotted notes with the different dividers. In addition, the synced LFOs no longer automatically reset at the end of the cycle, but also continue to run synchronously. 4. SCALER ------------ The scale function has been completely revised. In the first version, the keyboard was "bent" on the scale. This feature has been removed. But now you can "quantize" the sent notes (those sent to the oscillator and via MIDI OUT) on a scale. To do this, select a scale from a list in the SCALE menu and set the basic tone with the keys 1-12 or C-B. There are 16 available scales that can only be changed in the basic tone: chromatic OFF Ionian(Major) Ion Aeolian(Minor) AEo blues major bL1 blues minor bL2 Pentatonic Pnt Dorian dor Lydian LYd Mixolydian HLY Locrian LOC Minor Harmonic 1 HA1 Minor harm 2 HA2 Minor harm 3 HA3 Japan hirayoshi JP1 Japan iwatoyoshi JP2 Japan kumoiyoshi JP3 5. PROGRAM CHANGE Send / receive / midi channel ------------------------------------------------ The sending and receiving of MIDI Program Change has been expanded. You can now set a separate MIDI channel for this command: To do this, press the Patch button for "CHn" for CHANNEL in the MIDI menu. The MIDI channel for program change commands now appears in the display. Change it with the data controller. You can also activate / deactivate the receiving and sending of program change in the MIDI menu at "trt" (Transmit) and "" rCE "(Receive). To do this, press PATCH at "trt" or "rCE" and set on / off with the Edit control. The time of sending ProgramChange has changed: If the sequencer is stopped, the corresponding command is sent when a patch is loaded (not yet when selecting with the data controller). When the sequencer is running, the newly selected patch is loaded at the next bar, at which moment the corresponding command is also sent. The program change numbers correspond to PATCH numbers 1..100 and cannot be changed. 6. ROUTING THE MIDI EXTERNAL KEYBOARD -------------------------------------- In version 1, no SHOTS (note repeats) could be played on the oscillator track with a connected MIDI keyboard. This only worked with the touch buttons on the MÄANDER itself. Now the external MIDI keyboard is also based on the settings of the RESOLUTION controller. So it is possible to play not only unquantized notes with the external MIDI keyboard, but eg. also emergency repeats of chords.
